Thailand's Labor Minister Meets Qatar's Ambassador
 

BANGKOK, 21 November 2015 (NNT) – Labor Minister Sirichai Distakul has welcomed diplomats from Qatar to Thailand during their courtesy call and discussed cooperation in labor affairs, given the high demand for foreign workers in the Middle Eastern state.

The Labor Minister welcomed Qatar's Ambassador to Thailand Jabor bin Ali Al-Dosari, who provided the information that a Labor City in Qatar has newly opened and is equipped with such facilities as markets, shopping malls and cinemas to accommodate migrant workers, and that Doha city in his country will host the 2020 FIFA World Cup.

The new envoy said employment opportunities in Qatar have increased for unskilled, semi-skilled, and skilled workers, such as doctors, nurses and architects, while the employment quotas will be officially allocated to Thailand at a later date.

He also invited the labor minister and the officials involved in the making of the 2012 Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries, to pay an official visit to Qatar to discuss issues of common interest.

Gen Sirichai thanked the Qatari Ambassador for the good hospitality provided to the Thai workers in Qatar, while the ministry will publicize the employment opportunities in Qatar available to the interested Thai public.

He also agreed to the establishment of close cooperation between the two countries regarding labor issues.
